  • Culverts if you need them

Gravel driveway repair

Why Driveways Fall Apart

A gravel driveway fails when water cannot get off it. Without a crown, water sits in the low spots, softens the base, and every vehicle that drives through makes the hole deeper. Adding more gravel on top only hides it for a season.

Driveway regrading fixes the cause. We cut out the potholes and ruts, rebuild the crown so water sheds to the sides, add and compact new material where the base has failed, and make sure the water has somewhere to go.

Signs your driveway needs regrading

  • Potholes that come back every spring
  • Puddles that sit for days after rain
  • Ruts, washboarding or soft spots
  • Grass and weeds growing through the middle

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should a gravel driveway be regraded?

It depends on traffic and drainage, but many driveways need attention every few years. A properly crowned driveway with a solid base holds up much longer.

Can you just add more gravel?

We can, but if the base is soft or the driveway has no crown, new gravel will rut and pothole again quickly. Regrading fixes the cause.

Do you replace culverts at the end of the driveway?

Yes. If the culvert is crushed or plugged we can replace it while we regrade.

When is the best time to regrade?

Late spring through fall, once the ground has thawed and dried. We can assess the driveway any time.
